New York UFO
‘I'm trying to rule out lense flare - I've seen many in my day, whether made in photoshop, or from the actual sun - as any comparison to other lense flares doesn't seem to match up.
There were other photos shot that night, around the same area, but none have the same anomaly in them. The atmosphere around the object seems to jibe with the image also. Anyone care to take a stab at it?’

This is one of those intriguing photographs that get presented to UFO researchers across the globe every now and again. At a glance there seems to nothing in the shot that could generate a reflection that appears like the ‘UFO’ top centre.
In close up the object certainly looks like a regular flying saucer. The image below is contrast enhanced but the colouration is what appears in the copy of the photograph I have been given.

One problem I have with this image is that the colour of the ‘UFO’ is represented within the detail of the picture, it’s not red or yellow or silver, neither is anything else in the photograph for that matter hence suggesting that our ‘UFO is generated from within the photograph.
Another point of note is that traffic moving on and off Brooklyn Bridge leaves a trail of light behind it as the photograph was taken with a long exposure, now unless the UFO was absolutely motionless we would expect similar motion trail, the building and the bridge etc are fixed objects and are the clearest objects in the photograph.
This suggests to me that indeed we are looking at a reflection from within the camera lenses view, not necessarily something in frame but by the nature of the camera lens shape, it’s ellipsoid as opposed to flat means that the lens can catch reflections from beyond its recorded view. This in simple terms is how a lens flair appears.
So what do I think is causing this ‘reflection’?
I did a quick google search for New York Street Lighting designs and found the following pictures.
I think we have to seriously consider the evidence presented here and conclude that our wonderful cobalt blue UFO owes its origins to Thomas Alva Edison.
