Retired Police Officer John Hanson (one of our guest speakers at The Great British UFO Show to be held in Leeds October 1st 2005) is an active UFO researcher.

Reports and witness statements come to John from all over the country and indeed from around the world.

A while ago John was presented with the following case, although a couple of years old now the witnesses sent not only a detailed report of the event but also managed to film the strange daylight object.

Although John remains sceptical to what we see on the video but, because the witness was adamant that this was not just a kite caught on camera john presented the story to the local newspaper who because the sighting had not happened yesterday decided against using the story.

‘I personally find this quite amusing because Roswell happened almost 60 years ago and whenever the word UFO gets into newsprint Roswell is never far behind’

The witnesses a young couple visiting the Coton area back in September 2003 got quite a surprise when they came across a hexagonal shaped object apparently flying silently above the trees.

"At about 7pm we were en route to the Plough (local Pub) when I noticed a black stationary dot in the sky , I pointed it out to Spencer, (my boyfriend) he suggested it was probably a hot air balloon , but on further observation realised he may have been mistaken.

Fortunately we managed to obtain a short clip of film by using a Digital 8 camcorder that we had with us at the time.

Visually it looked like a hexagon chopped in half horizontally across the middle, before it dropped smoothly downwards , (ruling out any possibility from its descent that this was a kite) before disappearing from view behind trees in the distance.

The sketch above is how the object was described by the witness in the original report…

N.B.

John checked with the local ATC in Cambridge who had only logged Helicopter traffic in the area on the date and time in question.

To research this subject you need to be objective. Nobody has the right to stand up in front of a crowd and make claims that can’t be substansiated.

Unless you have the little bugger in your hand you can’t go round claiming ‘this is an alien’ likewise unless you have the grounded craft in your garage you can’t claim that this object you see on film is a REAL UFO.

John Hanson, like myself and many others is open to the possibilities as to what it might be and like so many UFO images and films ‘mistaken identity’ is one of the main culprits.

There are those who will try to fake a sighting but even with today’s modern cheap computer video editing options fakes are normally pretty obvious.

The witnesses proclaims in her report

before it dropped smoothly downwards , (ruling out any possibility from its descent that this was a kite)’

This action doesn’t rule out a kite in fact it could be a good description of how a kite can float back to the ground.

Single line operated kites can do just that as the thermal lift goes or the wind drops just enough for the kite to loose it’s lift. Yes some kites come back to earth with a bang, especially the stunt models that are flown from multiple lines.

Take a look at these images from the clip.

The witnesses never claimed that they though they had seen an alien ship but thought what they saw unusual.

We don’t have a copy of the original video tape, if we did enhancement could reveal evidence of the string/strings on a kite or not as the case may be.

The images are from a low quality internet version of the clip which you can download here (Real Media)
